CN Green Roof Asia (CNGRA), a Vietnam-based solar roofing and battery company, has started construction on its $15.8 million (~Php893 million) solar project in Hermosa, Bataan — its first development in the Philippines.

The ongoing solar project in the province is rated at 22.785 megawatts (MW) for its maximum potential output. Once completed, it is expected to generate approximately 32.8 gigawatt-hours of power annually, enough to supply 30,000 people.

The commercial operation of the Solana Solar Beta Project is expected to commence by the end of this year.

“We’re proud to bring our global expertise to the Philippines and help accelerate its clean energy goals,” said Green Roof COO Steve Rawles.

The company has also announced plans to invest around P10 billion in developing large-scale energy projects in the Philippines, which will help accelerate the country’s energy goals.

The 22.785 MW of capacity is just the start, as CNGRA also plans to develop up to 300 MW of solar farms and integrated battery energy storage systems in the next couple of years.

The Green Roof was established in 2021 as part of the collaboration between Climate Fund Managers, a blended finance investment manager, and Norfund, the Norwegian government’s Investment fund for developing countries.
