HMD Global has become a big name in the smartphone world by launching phones under the Nokia brand for the last six years. Now, they are planning to put their name at the forefront.

Jean-Francois Baril, Co-Founder and CEO of HMD Global announced that the company will release its own-branded smartphones. But, don’t worry, Nokia fans, as both HMD and Nokia-branded phones will co-exist.

What’s more, fans can expect a collaboration “with exciting new partners” as well.

HMD Global sure has the credibility to start its own brand. In a long post, Baril boasted that HMD Global is “the fastest growing 5G smartphone manufacturer year on year” and is also a leader in terms of sustainability after it released eco-friendly and sustainable Nokia devices that can be easily repaired.

All these achievements are the reason why HMD Global is now ready “to enter the market independently to create a new world for telecommunications focused on consumer needs.”

No word yet on what HMD-branded devices are coming and when they will officially be announced. But, we’re definitely excited about what this new Finnish smartphone brand has in store for us.
