Finally, the smartphone industry is starting to get exciting again. More and more companies are trying new things with their current releases — gimmicks that can either be useful or not. This time, we’re taking a look at the new Meizu Pro 7 and 7 Pro Plus, a device that has a secondary display.
This isn’t the first time that someone implemented a secondary OLED display for utility purposes. LG has already been doing it on their V series. Cherry Mobile has also done it with the Taiji, but it utilizes a bigger screen with an e-ink panel. The secondary 1.9-inch OLED screen of the Pro 7s are situated at the back, just below the dual-camera setup. This lets you take selfies with the primary sensor for better quality.
But other than that, it can also show notifications or display a customized wallpaper.
The other highlight feature is the camera. This thing has two 12-megapixel sensors at the back, with the other one used for monochrome photography. There’s also a 16-megapixel selfie shooter on the front with all its beauty effects.
The Meizu Pro 7 will have a 5.2-inch 1080p display, while the Pro 7 Plus will feature a larger and sharper 5.7-inch screen at 1440p resolution. Both use the same Super AMOLED panel.
The bigger Meizu Pro 7 has a better processor and faster storage. The former will have a MediaTek Helio P25 chipset, while the latter will have a Helio X30 SoC paired with UFS 2.1 storage.
