A new report suggests that artificial intelligence company Anthropic is in talks with Samsung to manufacture custom AI chips for them.

The report came from news outlet The Information, which said that Anthropic’s plans to build new AI chips are still in the early stages. In fact, the company still has no idea what the chipset will be used for or how powerful it will be.

Anthropic apparently said they will continue using Amazon Trainium, NVIDIA GPUs, and Google Tensor chips for their services. However, like many AI firms, they are reportedly exploring custom hardware to meet the needs of training and running AI models.

The report comes after OpenAI recently announced they are developing its first custom AI chip with Broadcom.
