Shoppers can now use Visa debit and credit cards at select 7-Eleven outlets in the Philippines. The payment network is rapidly expanding this service after a recent trial phase.

The company began testing card payments in 11 locations last month. According to Visa Philippines Country Manager Jeffrey Navarro, the service is already operating in about 700 stores, primarily within Metro Manila.

Visa has set an ambitious target to enable this feature in roughly 1,000 branches nationwide before the end of this year. Their longer-term plan is to reach nearly 3,000 stores by the first quarter of 2026.

Navarro stated that adding card payments addresses the needs of both local residents and visiting tourists. He highlighted that international travelers frequently rely on card transactions.

This rollout aligns with the country’s shift away from cash. Navarro observed consistent growth in all digital payment methods, including physical cards, contactless options, and e-wallets.

Holiday spending forecasts from Visa also indicate plenty of activity. Their data shows Filipino card spending typically peaks on December 23. Spending by international cardholders in the country often peaks on December 28.
