YouTube’s new Premium Lite plan is now out to reach more Filipinos and to give creators a new source of revenue. They’ve been testing the feature since 2021.
The new YouTube Premium Lite is cheaper than the standard premium plan. It costs only Php109 per month and comes with a free 1-month trial. That’s Php84 cheaper than the Individual plan, which costs Php189 per month.
So, what are you getting from this plan? As per the website, the plan makes “most videos ad-free”. Reading the fine print shows that ads will still appear on Shorts, music content, and when you search or browse.
What’s really gone is the annoying ads that appear before and during a YouTube video, which is actually the only reason why a lot of people subscribe to a YouTube Premium account anyway.
The Premium Lite is a great option for users on a budget who just want to get rid of in-video ads and enjoy their content without interruption. As a bonus, it will give creators an extra way to make money.
But if you want a YouTube experience entirely free of ads, offline downloads, and background play, then you may have to splurge more for the Premium plans.
Again, the Individual plan costs Php189 per month, the Family plan for Php379 per month, and the Student plan for Php115 per month.
