The third telco in the Philippines, DITO Telecommunity, just went through its third government-mandated technical audit where it was able to exceed expectations.

As per a document released on Thursday, DITO Telecommunity was able to surpass its commitments to the government in terms of internet speeds and network coverage.

DITO chief administrative officer Adel Tamano said that they are satisfied with NTC’s recent findings as it was able to pass the third performance audit required in the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN).

Tamano added that they “continue to abide by — and even exceed —” their commitments to the government to up the internet coverage and speed in the telco sector to help “bring real competition” in the industry to break the duopoly of Globe and PLDT-Smart.

NTC’s independent auditor found that DITO now has a 72.39% national population coverage, higher than the 70.01% target. Plus, its minimum average broadband speed is 71.77Mbps for 4G and 801.19Mbps for 5G, surpassing the 55Mbps target.

Now in its third year, DITO previously bragged that they already have 12 million subscribers.
