Sennheiser has unveiled its first new premium wireless headphones in two years, but they are not the expected Momentum 5. Instead, the company introduced the HDB 630, a model designed for audiophiles who want both wireless convenience and pristine wired audio.
The new Sennheiser HDB 630 headphones share the same physical design as the 2022 Momentum 4 model. The major changes are on the inside, where Sennheiser has fitted a new acoustic system built around 42mm drivers. The company states these components were engineered for accurate sound reproduction, with a focus on delivering the music as it was heard in the recording studio.
The standout feature of the HDB 630 is its support for lossless, high-resolution audio when used with a cable. By connecting through either the 3.5mm jack or the USB-C port, users can listen to music in resolutions up to 24-bit/96kHz.

To bring high-quality wireless sound to more devices, Sennheiser includes a USB-C transmitter dongle in the box. The company estimates that only 16 percent of smartphones support this high-resolution wireless audio naturally. This dongle allows roughly 80 percent of USB-C phones to access better quality sound using aptX Adaptive technology.
The headphones also include several features for sound customization. A new Parametric Equalizer gives users detailed control over the audio profile. A “Crossfade” function, inspired by Sennheiser’s flagship HE 1 headphones, blends the stereo channels to create a more spacious, speaker-like sound. The company has also announced that users will eventually be able to share their custom sound settings with others via QR codes.

For battery life, Sennheiser promises up to 60 hours of use with noise cancellation activated. A fast charge feature provides about seven hours of listening time from just a 10-minute charge. An airline adapter is also included for use with in-flight entertainment systems.
The Sennheiser HDB 630 is priced at $499.95 (~Php29,000). No word yet on international pricing and availability.
