GCash has introduced a new service that allows small entrepreneurs to use their Android phones to collect payments from credit and debit cards. This initiative aims to support small and local businesses in transitioning to cashless systems without a major investment.
Named GCash PocketPay, this function is integrated into the GCash for Business application. It uses the built in tap on phone technology found in many smartphones, letting merchants process card payments by having the customer tap their card on the back of the phone. This removes the requirement for a traditional, bulky payment terminal.
A company executive stated that the solution was designed specifically for the needs of small enterprises. Jong Layug, who leads the B2B division at Mynt, GCash’s operator, mentioned that these businesses need affordable and easy to implement options to keep up with the digital economy.

For shop owners with a verified business account, GCash PocketPay offers several advantages. They can now accept tap to pay card transactions, receive their earnings more quickly, and keep a live view of all sales. The process also minimizes mistakes that can happen with manual entry of payment details.
As a special promotion, GCash will not collect any fees from PocketPay transactions until the end of 2025, specifically until December 3. The app can be installed from the Google Play Store via the GCash for Business page.
Aside from this POS service, GCash also revealed SoundPay, a compact gadget that collects QR code payments and announces successful transactions with a sound. Both PocketPay and SoundPay are offered to all businesses signed up on the GCash for Business platform.
