Mobile gaming accessory maker Backbone has launched a new, premium controller for Xbox.
The Backbone Pro Xbox Edition has been completely redesigned to better match a standard Xbox gamepad. It now features full-size control sticks and hall effect triggers, which are known for their precision and durability. It also includes two customizable back buttons. Most of the controller’s inputs can be remapped to suit a player’s preferences.

The biggest new feature is the addition of Bluetooth. This means the controller is no longer limited to just the phone physically attached to it. Players can now wirelessly connect the Backbone Pro to a wider range of devices that support Xbox Game Pass, including PCs, smart TVs, and even Meta Quest VR headsets. Backbone promises a simple “tap and play” experience for connecting.
When used in Bluetooth mode, the controller’s battery lasts for about 40 hours on a single charge. When a phone is attached using the USB-C connection, the phone itself powers the controller, so its battery life is tied to the device’s charge.
The Backbone Pro Xbox Edition is now available for $180 at Amazon and Best Buy. It comes with a free one-month subscription to Game Pass Ultimate.
