Pebble is back in the news. This time, we have the Pebble Round 2.

Google has open-sourced the Pebble OS, allowing its Pebble founder, Eric Migicovsky, to create new watches under his new company, Core Devices. The new Pebble Round 2 joins the Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 announced last year.

Like its predecessors, the Round 2 is stripped of any nonsense and aims to provide only the essentials.

Hence, it has a 1.3-inch e-paper display, but with color and touch support. This helps it achieve an estimated battery life of up to 2 weeks.

More than the touchscreen, you can use the four buttons to control the device. The watch also has a backlight, a 30m water-resistant build, a linear resonance actuator for haptic feedback, and an ultra-thin 8.1mm stainless steel frame.

No fancy workout tracking, but it can record your steps and sleep quality through the accelerometer and magnetometer. You also get dual microphones for speech input, a voice assistant, and replying to messages.

The Pebble Round 2 has an SRP of USD199 (~Php11,800) and is now up for pre-order through the rePebble.com website. It works on both iOS and Android with thousands of watchfaces available on the Pebble Appstore.

It ships with a silicone watch band and a charging dongle.
