Filipinos are chatting with businesses more than ever through mobile apps, but one platform continues to lead the pack.
A new report produced by Infobip shows that Viber remains the most popular messaging app for customer interactions in the Philippines. The company analyzed 628 billion mobile interactions worldwide in 2025 and looked at 3.8 trillion messages sent over two decades.
Overall, digital conversations between consumers and companies in the country rose by 19 percent last year compared to 2024.

The biggest movers were mobile messaging platforms. Combined usage across these apps jumped by 139 percent. Viber specifically saw a 47 percent increase in activity, which was enough to keep it at number one.
WhatsApp is catching up fast, though. Its growth rate hit 1,416 percent, the highest among all platforms. Other chat apps also expanded quickly, with a combined growth of 1,014 percent. But experts note that WhatsApp and others started from much smaller user bases.

Older methods like SMS and MMS are not disappearing. SMS grew by 14 percent, MMS by 15 percent, and email by 5 percent. This tells us that companies are adding new tools instead of removing the old ones.
The report also highlighted two growing trends. First, more businesses are adopting Rich Communication Services, a next-generation texting standard. Second, artificial intelligence is playing a bigger role in automating replies and managing conversations across multiple platforms at once.
