OPPO’s latest entry-level smartphone, the OPPO A8, was just made official.
It’s going to be the affordable counterpart of the also new OPPO A91. The OPPO A8 settles for a 6.5-inch HD+ IPS screen, instead of the FHD+ AMOLED screen that the former has.
The processor was also demoted to a MediaTek Helio P35, from the Helio P70 of the A91. It comes with 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and thankfully, a bigger 4,230mAh battery.
A 12-megapixel primary camera is seen on the back, accompanied by 2-megapixel depth-sensor and macro cameras. We also have the fingerprint scanner back here, instead of having it beneath the screen.
There’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera is seen on the dewdrop notch on top of the screen. It runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.1. Since it’s a newer device, we expect it to get the ColorOS 7 update with Android 10 soon.
The OPPO A8 has a price of CNY1,199 (~Php8,700) and will be available in China starting December 26. Its arrival in the Philippines is yet to be announced, so stay tuned for that.
