After three years since the Gen3 version, the new Oura Ring 4 has finally come out.

The new Oura Ring 4 is now made of titanium from the inside and out, an upgrade over the epoxy interior of its predecessor. It is slightly thicker, though, at 2.88mm from 2.5mm, but is about 1g lighter at 3.3g and 5.2g depending on the ring size. It is also rated water resistant by up to 100m.

Oura also made the sensors extra thinner as it’s now at 0.3mm from 1.3mm. Despite this, the company said that they have dramatically improved the accuracy. The blood oxygen SpO2 sensor is now 120% better while the sleep tracking is 30% more accurate.

The more accurate heart sensor now has fewer gaps in daytime and nighttime measurements. Plus, there’s a better breathing distribution index (BDI) thanks to the higher signal fidelity.

Oura has also implemented an update algorithm that accesses more signal pathways from the user’s finger at an optimal time, addressing the known issue with smart rings.

Other improvements are automatic detection for more than 40 activities, better activity heart rate monitoring with zone breakdown, and can now show trends from sleep, stress, and reproductive health tracking.

It gets a new charging dock, with a single charge lasting 8 days. It still works on both Android and iOS devices via Bluetooth Low Energy.
