HTC presented two new handsets to attendees of its recent press event in Taiwan. Known as the Desire 501 and Desire 700 (dual-SIM), these two are the latest additions to the Desire family of mid-range Android smartphones.

The HTC Desire 501 (featured above) bears resemblance to the HTC One mini and One X. Its mobile CPU is clocked at 1.15GHz and reported to use the Cortex-A6 architecture, though this latter spec remains to be confirmed. Despite belonging in the mid-range tier, the device sports a relatively high-res rear camera and an ultra-wide-angle front camera that can shoot HD videos.

The HTC Desire 700, on the other hand, is a dual-SIM handset that looks closer to the company’s flagship device for this year—the HTC One. Many of its specs are far superior than those of the 501, such as a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset, bigger external storage expansion, and larger screen.

  1. The Desire 700 offers expandable memory and swappable battery, has excellent sound quality, and fast, decent camera. If you are willing to stomach a bit lower pixel density and larger than average chassis, the Desire 700 is one of your best shots at a dual SIM phone at the moment for its price.
