Doogee’s hot and talked-about smartphone has been with us for a couple of weeks now. And while we’re still cooking the review, we thought of sharing our first impressions and a quick unboxing video for those who are excited about the new Doogee Mix.
The packaging that the Doogee Mix comes with looks pretty elegant and premium. The textured, all-black box has the word “Mix” and “Mini + Max = Mix” engraved with it. This might translate to having a smartphone that has a “max” set of specs at a “mini” body. On the device’s web page, Doogee was bragging that the Mix has a 5.5-inch display inside a 5-inch body.
And upon checking the handset, it does feel bizarre in the hands. It sure is a bit more compact than the standard 5.5-inch smartphones that we have tested, but it still feels a bit large. This is due to the “bezel-less” screen that the Doogee Mix has. The device has this boxy shape due to the ultra-thin sides.
And speaking of the “bezel-less” profile, I feel a little bit betrayed when I got my hands with it personally. Sure, the bezels still look and feel super thin, but not razor-thin as what the official renders suggests.
But nonetheless, the device feels sturdy overall. The Doogee Mix is constructed in metal which is also being sandwiched by the glass found in both front and back. However, thanks to this premium construction, the Mix has a noticeable weight to it.
Other than the phone itself, the fancy packaging also includes a free screen protector, a protective case, microUSB cable, user manual and warranty card, and the wall adaptor.
And as part of a bizarre marketing stunt, Doogee included a tiny red packet that looks exactly like — well, a condom packaging. Inside it is a free phone ring holder.
Well, that’s it for now. Stay tuned for our full review of the Doogee Mix which will be published in the next few days.
