Google has always wanted to do to Pixel what Apple is doing with the iPhone: disregard the numbers and focus on key components and their synchronization to build a smartphone that’s fun and convenient to use for its consumers.
However, that’s just hard to do if you’re using a chipset from a different brand. Hence, with the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, Google co-developed a Tensor chip that can keep up with what they want to offer to the consumer.

This 5nm octa-core chipset has two Cortex-X1 cores. This is the first time we’re seeing this powerful core in twos on a phone. It also has two regular Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores to play nice with the battery.
The Tensor chip also has a custom image processor that will improve computational photography on both devices that should help the Pixel line back on top of the camera game.

A couple of killer camera features includes Magic Eraser that automatically removes any distractions from images. There’s also Face Unblur that intelligently chooses a sharp face from a batch of photos. Portrait mode also gets an improved subject separation and better skin tone output. Google has also brought improvements to the Night Mode.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro also has a Live Translate feature thanks to the new Tensor Chip. You can simply pull up the camera to a real-world text and the device can translate it to 55 languages. It can even do this while offline on languages such as German, French, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Google’s Tensor chipset also has robust security features thanks to the built-in Titan M2 chip. It can protect all your files from hackers. Google also pledged to provide up to 5 years of security updates on the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro.
Now, on to their differences. First, the size. The Google Pixel 6 Pro is larger with its 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED screen that’s also more battery efficient. It’s also sharper with a 1440p pixel resolution and faster at 120Hz refresh rate. The Google Pixel 6 has a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel at 90Hz.

Since it’s physically bigger, the 6 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery, versus the latter’s 4,600mAh.
The two share the same 30W wired charger and will work with the new Pixel Stand wireless charger with up to 23W speeds.

Both models share the same 50-megapixel 1/1.3-inch GN1 sensor from Samsung and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide snapper.
The Pro model gets to have a sharp 48-megapixel telephoto sensor with a 4x zoom lens that can apparently go up to 20x. It also has an 11.1-megapixel ultra-wide front camera, while the non-Pro model settles for a regular 8-megapixel selfie-snapper.

Oh, and there’s the new sleek, RoboCop-like design. The Google Pixel 6 Pro has a polished aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass Victus Back, and will start at USD899 (around Php46,600) for the 128GB model, USD999 (around Php50,700) for the 256GB, and USD1,099 (around Php55,800) for the 512GB. All with 12GB of RAM.
On the other hand, the Google Pixel 6 has a textured aluminum frame, Gorilla Glass 6 back, and will start at USD599 (around Php30,400) for the 128GB model and USD699 (around Php35,500) for the 256GB. Both models are now up for pre-order in select markets. Like in previous years, it may never arrive officially here in the Philippines.
