Filipinos might know HiSense as a brand for TVs and other household products. What not a lot of us know is that they also sell smartphones in other markets. Their latest release, the U50, is positioned in the entry-level market in Mexico.
The HiSense U50 is powered by a UNISOC SC7731E quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. A humble workhorse you can expect on most devices in this category.

Around the back, you’d notice the triangular camera layout that has a striking resemblance to the iPhone 12 series. It houses the 8-megapixel main camera, 2-megapixel sensor, and what appears to be a CIF. It lacks a fingerprint scanner but makes up for it by having facial recognition.
On the front, there’s a compact 6.08-inch HD+ screen with a U-shaped notch for the 5-megapixel selfie camera. The underwhelming hardware is coupled with the latest Android 11 operating system.

The HiSense U50 is available in Mexico for MXN2,699 (around Php6,700).
