Huawei has introduced its latest flagship phones for the year. The new Mate 50 series comes in four flavors, but for today, we’ll be focusing on the two main ones: the vanilla Huawei Mate 50 and the Mate 50 Pro.
Both the Huawei Mate 50 and 50 Pro, together with the Porsche Design model, are powered by the 5G-less Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 octa-core processor.
With the Mate 50 Pro, you’re getting a 6.74-inch OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 10-bit color. The Mate 50 is slightly smaller at 6.7-inches and slower at 90Hz.
It also has a bigger 4,700mAh battery (versus 4,460mAh), although they share the same 66W wired and 50W wireless charging technologies.
One of the key highlights here is the cameras. The 50-megapixel main shooter has an optical image stabilizer and features a six-blade variable aperture that can go from f/4.0 up to a bright f/1.4. Both models have them, but to set them apart, the Pro model has a sharper 64-megapixel sensor for its periscope-style telephoto lens.
Both models then ship with the latest HarmonyOS 3.0 software from Huawei.
The Huawei Mate 50 has a starting price of CNY4,999 (around Php41,000) for the 128GB model while the Mate 50 Pro begins at CNY6,799 (around Php55,800) for the 256GB variant. These are Chinese prices as the Philippine SRPs are yet to be known.
