LG U

A 5X look alike?

LG has launched a new smartphone in Korea – the LG U. It bears a strong resemblance to the Nexus 5X, one of the last of its kind. It’s not surprising, though, as LG was the one who manufactured the said device. It measures about the same, and the internals aren’t far from each other either.

Looking at the front reminds me of the 5X, but turning it around is another story. There’s no fingerprint scanner in sight and it’s using a glossy plastic cover compared to the matte of the 5X. It’s the same screen size and resolution, 5.2-inch and 1080p, respectively.

It features an octa-core processor with clock speeds of up to 1.14GHz as well as 2GB of RAM. While that may sound acceptable to an entry-level device, the LG U is actually not one.

LG U is priced at $345 (~Php16,800) and it’s quite high for what it has to offer. It’s not yet clear whether it will be making its way out of Korea, but we’re not too excited about it. If anything, the recently launched LG X Power is a much better buy. For this price, consumers are better off buying the Asus Zenfone 3.
