Xiaomi has a follow-up to one of its most popular midrange phones with the new Redmi 17 5G.
The Redmi 17 5G is almost exactly the same as the 4G-only Redmi 17. The obvious difference is the processor. This one has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor, while the latter has a 4G-only MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra. Both phones come with up to 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
They also share the same 6.9-inch HD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection.
An 8-megapixel selfie camera is on the top of the screen, while the rear has the 50-megapixel main shooter and the Dynamic RGB light for notifications, charging, camera countdown, and more.
A big highlight here is the battery. It boasts a 7,500mAh capacity that lasts for up to 109 hours of music playback, 28 hours of video playback, and 10 hours of video recording. It supports 22.5W wired reverse charging for powering other devices and accessories, and comes with a 45W wired charger.
It ships with Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and a promise from Xiaomi of a 48-month like-new software experience. Oh, and apart from the chipset, the key difference between the 5G and 4G is the color options, with the former seemingly having better options.
The Redmi 17 5G is now listed in select markets for a starting price of MYR769 (~Php11,400). No word yet as to when it will arrive in the Philippines.
