Xiaomi is known for its bang-for-the-buck smartphones, and people especially those shopping for entry-level devices resort to them to get the best out of their money. Their latest release, the Redmi A2, has made its way to the Philippines, costing under Php4,000.

The new Redmi A2 Plus tries to provide a complete experience despite the price. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio G36 octa-core processor, with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

It has a decent 6.52-inch HD+ IPS display with a 60Hz refresh rate. Definitely not the best, but more than enough for the price. It doesn’t have a stereo speaker but does have a decent single loudspeaker. Security is handled by a combination of the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock.

Keeping the lights on is the standard 5,000mAh battery, paired with a decent 10W charging, albeit using the old microUSB port.

To keep things running as fast as possible, it ships with Android 12 Go Edition.

Xiaomi also managed to put dual cameras on the back. Albeit, it only has a QVGA sensor joining the 8-megapixel main camera. A 5-megapixel shooter is on the front for selfies.

The new Redmi A2 Plus has a price of Php3,999 and will be available in the Xiaomi stores in the Philippines starting August 5, 2023.
