Samsung has introduced a new smartphone in China called the Galaxy C55. If the specs list looks familiar, that’s because it’s very similar to the Galaxy M55 that came out in Brazil back in March and in South America and Europe in April.
While the specs are similar, the company still made an effort to slightly redesign the Samsung Galaxy C55 to make it more interesting for the Chinese market. It has a leather appearance on the back that’s available in a sleek black color with subtle blue stitching and a bright orange colorway.
Samsung’s overall design language has been retained, especially in the camera layout on the top left. It consists of a sharp 50-megapixel main shooter with optical image stabilization, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
An equally pixel-dense 50-megapixel sensor is on the front for selfies, sitting on the large 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and Always-On Display (AOD) capabilities. Running the show is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor.
It has a standard 5,000mAh battery with, surprisingly, 45W adapter. That’s not the fastest charging you can get for the price, but that’s the best you can get from a Samsung phone matching the flagship Galaxy S24 Ultra.
To complete things up, the Galaxy C55 also gets to have a stereo speaker setup and the latest Android 14-based One UI 6.1.
The Samsung Galaxy C55 comes in 8GB/256GB and 12GB/256GB variants for a price of CNY1,999 (~Php15,900) and CNY2,299 (~Php18,300) in China, respectively. As history suggests, it will be the Galaxy M55 that will get here in the Philippines, but Samsung’s local arm is yet to confirm if they will ever bring it in the market.
