Samsung’s latest entry-level M-series device is here, the Samsung Galaxy M05.
The new Samsung Galaxy M05 is powered by a MediaTek Helio G85 octa-core processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage — a respectable chipset for the price, but a lot of competition already offers twice the storage capacity.
It has a standard 60Hz refresh rate, which is fine, since putting a 90Hz on a device with such a processor (like many brands do) wouldn’t have a noticeable difference, anyway. The screen is a 6.7-inch IPS panel with an HD+ resolution.
A good 8-megapixel selfie camera is on a waterdrop notch on top. On the back, we have Samsung’s signature clean design we’ve seen up to its flagship line-up. The sharp 50-megapixel main camera and 2-megapixel depth sensor have their own bezels, no camera island.
The battery has the usual 5,000mAh capacity, which should last you for more than a day of light to moderate use. What’s interesting is the 25W charging support, which levels Samsung’s more expensive phones. Sadly, it doesn’t come with the adapter itself, but you do get a USB-C to USB-C cable.
It will run on Android 14 operating system with a seemingly less demanding One UI Core 6.0 edition. The best part is, despite its budget status, it’s guaranteed to receive 2 Android upgrades and 4 years of security patches.
The Samsung Galaxy M05 is available in India for a price of INR7,999 (~Php5,300). If you want to own one in the Philippines, you can check out its twin, the Galaxy A05, which has the same specs and features. The A05 is available locally for a price of Php5,190 as of writing.
