Rugged smartphones today are either too bulky or come from a lesser-known brand. So if you want a tough smartphone with okay after-sales support, check out the new Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro.
The Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 has a MIL-STD build and an IP68 rating for being water and dust-resistant. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus, which is one of the toughest display glass in the market today.
One interesting feature is the hot-swappable battery, so you can easily remove and install a full-charged module.
The rest of the specs are pretty standard for a midrange smartphone. It is powered by a 5G-equipped Snapdragon 778G octa-core processor, paired with 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage expandable via microSD up to 1TB.
For a rugged phone, the XCover 6 Pro only has a 4,050mAh battery. Compared to others that have at least 5,000mAh. There’s also a dedicated XCover Key and Top Key that’s customizable.
Other than its hardware, the device is also pretty robust on the software level thanks to Samsung Knox Security. It also has a power button that doubles as a fingerprint scanner and face unlock.
The official price and availability details for the new Samsung Galaxy XCover 6 Pro are yet to be announced.
