Starmobile recently announced their newest addition to the Diamond series, the Diamond D1. The Diamond D1 is a phablet with a 5 inch screen, 1.2GHz quad core processor, and dual autofocus BSI cameras (12mp rear, 8mp front). What’s equally interesting is that the Starmobile Diamond D1 is equipped with a 3,000mAh battery, which is impressive considering most other 5 inch phablets in the market are in the 2,000-2,500mAh range.
Of course, simply having a large battery doesn’t automatically equate to great battery life. The Diamond D1 is optimized for better battery usage because the screen has a lower FWVGA resolution, compared to the HD resolution of some of the higher end phablets. Of course, technically that means the screen isn’t as clear, but fewer pixels also means a lighter load for the GPU to process.
Another thing that contributes to better battery life on the Diamond D1 is its underclocked GPU. It is equipped with a quad core MT6589M SoC, which is a slightly lower end variant of the regular MT6589 that most of the premium local quad core phones sport. While both their CPUs are clocked at 1.2GHz, the “M” variant is coupled with an underclocked PowerVR SGX 544MP GPU at 156MHz down from 286MHz on the regular MT6589 variant. Obviously, this means that the graphics aren’t as potent on the Starmobile Diamond D1, but because it’s paired with a lower resolution screen, the graphics performance balances itself out.
If you care about the rest of the specs, it’s fairly well-equipped. The Starmobile Diamond D1 supports data speeds of up to 3.5G/HSPA+ and comes with built in WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS support. Looking to grab this power-efficient phablet? SRP is only Php7,999.

ganda naman niyan ganyang klase ng phone ang hanap ko ung candy bar ang design parang galaxy note I MANIPIS ba ang kanyang bezel?
mas maganda pa Starmobile S1 dito
Overpriced as usual, you don’t slap a low res screen as a scapegoat to blend well with the high capacity battery
I agree much as other local brands do
nagkapalit po yung specs ng front and rear camera sa first paragraph :)
Thanks, Jeio. We’ll tell JMBalicano na wag magsulat ng articles when he’s lasheng. Haha! :p
oy, naka isang shot lang ako, nde pa ako lasheng!! thanks for pointing it out Jeio :)
Hi. Are you just ignoring the real name of the phone and decided to change it? Or you just did not notice. It’s & D1 NOT V1.
Hi Ryl, thanks for pointing it out. Fixed.
Hi RyL, sorry nakatatak sa utak ko yung mga previous phones nila na V3, V7, etc. Thanks for pointing it out :)
hmmm… how could we justify the 8k price. specs looks to be good. sm’s have better cams compared to most local brands. mukhang pwede na sa mga baguhan lang sa android. yung basic call/text, surf minsan, music, light gaming (candy cras) at pa selfie2x, lols. mas ok kung ginawang 6995 ang presyo
