With the official launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C in the Philippines, Smart Communications has released their post-plans for the new iPhones. As expected, they’re available in all the types of Smart’s post-paid plans.
So, from the chart, you pay full price for all the phones on SMART Freedom Plan. You get subsidy in the All-in plans, but if you want a free one, you need to get Plan 2500 and that’s just for the iPhone 5C 16GB. You also get it for free in UnliData 2000 and above, while the other models are free in UnliData 3000 except for the 64GB version of the iPhone 5S. Of course, there are also the iPhone Plans, with the iPhone Plan 999 having cash-outs while the iPhone Plan 2499 nets you most phones for free, except for the 64GB version of the iPhone 5S again. And then there’s the Plan 999, which unlike the other plans that have one-time payment cash-outs, monetizes the cash-out in 24-month amortization. This plan also requires a credit card.
From what I know, the chart is true for both new subscribers and for those up for retention. For those within their 24-month contracts, though, you can opt to upgrade to the iPhone via Smart’s Wipeout program. For those who are unfamiliar with it, it’s a way for you to prematurely terminate your contract of sorts. You just have to pay a certain amount depending on the number of months left in your contract to be able to avail of the new handset so you can get a new iPhone. It’s quite similar to Globe’s Forever iPhone postpaid plans with just a slightly different approach.
Being that we’re still a week away from November 15 (as of this writing, anyway), you can reserve your unit now by going to their iPhone reservation page. It has the complete instructions for both new and existing subscribers. Also, you can hit the source link for more information.
