TECNO Mobile has introduced a new smartphone they claim was created for “Gen Alpha, college students, and trendsetters in mind,” the TECNO Pop 9 5G.
The TECNO Pop 9 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 octa-core processor, paired with 4GB of RAM, and an option between 64GB and 128GB of expandable storage.
On the front, we have a decent 6.6-inch IPS display with only an HD+ resolution, but a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. It also has stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support.
The UI is headed by the latest Android 14 operating system. A standard 5,000mAh battery is on the inside, with support for 18W charging.
TECNO is making a big deal of its 48-megapixel Somy IMX582 main camera, which the company claims is a “Segment 1st.” There are only two cameras on this one, with the latter being an 8-megapixel shooter in a punch-hole cutout on top of the screen.
As a cherry on top, it has NFC connectivity for cashless payments and has IP54 certification for being dust and splash-resistant. TECNO will ship it with two free skins that have playful designs.
The TECNO Pop 9 5G has a price of INR9,499 (~Php6,300) for the 4GB/64GB model and INR9,999 (~Php6,700) for the 4GB/128GB. They are now available for pre-booking on Amazon India, with international release details yet to be known.
