Vivo-NEX-A-Philippines

Vivo pretty much shook the entire industry when they announced their APEX concept smartphone. Now, that concept becomes a reality as they announce the Vivo NEX series.

This new line comes in two flavors. There are the top-of-the-line one Vivo NEX S and the one we’re checking out now, the Vivo NEX A. Unsurprisingly, it has toned-down specs for the mid-range smartphone segment.

The Vivo NEX A is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, a chipset made for premium midrange smartphones. It’s a downgrade from the Snapdragon 845 chipset of the NEX S, but it’s still very capable in its own right.

Another thing that’s been compromised is the fingerprint scanner. With the Vivo NEX A, you’re getting the traditional fingerprint sensor on the back rather than the in-display found on the NEX S.

But other than those few compromises, it’s still pretty much the same device as the NEX S. One of its main highlights is its true bezel-less a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ screen, without the display notch on top.

The 8-megapixel pops-up and it uses a micro-vibrations that comes out on the screen that produces audio for calls. This allows them to completely dismiss the display notch on top, which is being used by other manufacturers to hold sensors and selfie camera.

Vivo NEX A also comes with a large 4,000mAh battery, runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, and is dressed with Vivo’s FunTouch OS 4.0 interface. The device is also equipped with Vivo’s own voice assistant called Jovi.
