One of the most highly anticipated flagship phones, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, has been announced. As expected, it boasts some killer camera features, which you can immediately tell just by looking at it.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra comes with an enormous circular glass dome on the back for the four 50-megapixel cameras and the distinct Leica branding, letting you know that it means business.

Oh, and that glass dome is not your normal glass as it is actually a Leica Vario-Summicron 1:1.8-3.0/12-120 ASPH lens. It holds all four sensors, including the main 50-megapixel 1-inch IMX989 sensor with OIS and a physical aperture that opens at f/1.9 for authentic blurred background.
All the other three cameras use a 50-megapixel IMX858 sensor that’s 1/2.51-inch in size. There’s one with a 75mm 2x zoom lens with OIS and f/1.8 aperture that’s made for portraits, the other has a 120mm 5x zoom for long-distance magnification, while the last one is an ultra-wide 12mm lens with autofocus function for macro shots.

For selfies, there’s a 32-megapixel front-facing camera that also has pixel-binning technology.
More than the hardware, both Xiaomi and Leica also developed a couple of software features like two camera color science modes: Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant. There’s also the new 50-megapixel UltraRAW mode for 14-bit DNG files. Adobe also created a custom camera profile for Lightroom.

Moving on, the new Xiaomi 13 Ultra boasts an antibacterial nanotech silicon leather. To further highlight the camera, the upper part of the rear leather panel is slightly elevated.
As for the rest of the specs, the new Ultra unsurprisingly has the best-of-the-best hardware like the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor that you can pair with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 3.0 storage. The chipset is cooled by Xiaomi‘s own Loop LiquidCool technology that utilizes an aerospace-grade toroidal cooling and vapor chamber.

It also has a large 6.73-inch 1440p AMOLED screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling, and 2600 nits of peak brightness.
For the battery, there’s the 5,000mAh capacity with 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and Xiaomi SUrge P2 and Surge G1 chips to monitor battery life and charging safety.

The new Xiaomi 13 Ultra has a price of CNY5,999 (~Php48,900), CNY6,499 (~Php52,900), and CNY7,299 (~Php59,500) for the 12GB/256GB, 16GB/512GB, and 16GB/1TB models, respectively. They will be initially available in China starting April 21 and will land on select markets — hopefully including the Philippines — in the coming months.
