Xiaomi Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro: 144Hz AMOLED, up to Snapdragon 888, 120W charging

Xiaomi’s gaming-centric smartphone brand, Black Shark, has introduced its flagship line for 2021 — the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro.

To no one’s surprise, the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro has all the top-tier specs on a smartphone today. They both come with a 6.67-inch E4 AMOLED screen, a fast 144Hz refresh rate, a whopping 720Hz touch sampling, and a fast 120W fast charging.

The shoulder triggers are now pressure-sensitive so that they can differentiate light taps from hard presses. They also both run on Android 11-based JOYUI 12.5. So the question is, what is the main difference between the Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro?

First, the Black Shark 4 Pro brags a Snapdragon 888 chipset, while the former has the second-best, the Snapdragon 870. The Pro model also boasts a two-layer liquid cooling system that sandwiches the chipset. Xiaomi claims the heat dissipation is increased by 30% and drops CPU temperature by 18C.

The Pro model also has a RAMDISK feature, which can use the RAM as storage to improve a particular app’s performance further.

Moreover, the duo also differs in the camera department. The Black Shark 4 Pro has a 64-megapixel main shooter, while the Black Shark 4 has a 48-megapixel. You can also notice the new design on the back, with the triple cameras now in a vertical glass.

Both the Xiaomi Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro are now up for pre-order in China. Their release details in markets like the Philippines are yet to be revealed. You can check their full specs list and prices below.
