Xiaomi has introduced MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13, and will power some of its new and existing smartphones from late this year to 2023.

MIUI 14 new features
There are a lot of things you should expect from the new Android 13-based MIUI 14. Here we’ve listed some of the major ones you should be excited about.
More efficient performance
Like previous iterations, the MIUI 14 will offer efficiencies to improve the performance of the devices that will be having it. The new version will update the system architecture on the Android Kernel level with GPU, CPU, and memory scheduling, lower memory usage, and lighter system firmware size.
As per Xiaomi, a Xiaomi 12S Ultra running on the new system will be 60% smoother compared to the previous generation.
Automatic app compression, fewer bloatware
The MIUI has a new feature that automatically compresses app that is not being used a lot for better optimization.
It also has less bloatware as there are only eight system apps that cannot be removed or uninstalled.
Customizable folders and new widgets
For the looks, the MIUI 14 will now have customizable folders that feature normal and large icons. You can also personalize widgets with different shapes and sizes.
One big addition is the flowers and pets widgets, which are animated characters that stay on your home screen.
Files and text recognition
Duplicated file merger are coming to MIUI 14. There’s also a better text recognition feature. Plus, the new version allows you to extract texts from images in the gallery.
