Yongnuo is a popular brand for budget photography equipment. Now, with the YN455, the company is trying to enter a category that we thought is long gone.

The Yongnui YN455 is a mirrorless camera that has a large touchscreen on the back and runs on full Android.

Let’s talk about the camera side first. This one has a 20-megapixel micro four-thirds sensor that can accommodate Canon EF lenses. It can record up to 4K@30fps videos.

It’s built like a compact camera, making it quite enormous to become a pocketable smartphone. There’s a thick grip on the back, the shutter button in its regular location, and a ring to tie a strap on.

The smartphone part is located on a tilting 5-inch touchscreen on the back. This is where you’d interact with the Android 11 interface. It’s powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon octa-core processor, albeit the exact model used was not mentioned.

It’s paired with 6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, and a microSD card slot that can support up to 256GB. The YN455 also comes with a 4,400mAh battery that charges via USB Type-C.

Since it’s a pro-camera-smartphone hybrid, you can enjoy connectivity features like WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS, so you can easily share professional-grade images online or with friends.

The Yongnuo YN455 is currently only available in China for CNY3,888 (around Php30,000). Considering Yongnuo’s history and how niche this product is, it may never make it to the global stage.
