Flappy Bird was one of the most bizarre mobile game hits in history. The premise and production quality of the game was incredibly simple, but it still became one of the biggest mobile games known to man. It has gotten so big that its unassuming creator, Dong Nguyen, decided to take down the game completely citing all the pressure and stress that came with the popularity of his creation.

Ten years after its shutdown, the game is set to make a comeback thanks to the Flappy Bird Foundation, which describes itself as a “new team of passionate fans committed to sharing the game with the world.”

The Flappy Bird Foundation has acquired the official trademark rights to the game, as well as the rights to the characters of the game called Piou Piou vs. Cactus, which where the Flappy Bird’s likes are said to be inspired.

It is said that the new Flappy Bird will be available on select platforms later this year, while a mobile version for both Android and iOS will arrive in 2025.

The new people behind the game will introduce new game modes, skins, progression, and multiplayer challenges — which may affect the no-fuss and straightforward appeal of the original game.
