Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Buds 5, a refresh to its popular budget-friend TWS earphones, but now with upper-class specs that could challenge more expensive alternatives.

Announced alongside the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, the Redmi Buds 5 also comes with a special AAPE edition, with the clothing line’s signature camouflage look applied to the buds, the case, and even the packaging. If you don’t care about it, there are three standard colors: Taro Purple, Black, and White.

One of the biggest updates this year is the active noise cancelation (ANC) that can remove up to 46dB of ambient noise. The buds allow you to choose three different ANC modes depending on your current location. Xiaomi also threw in three Transparency Modes so you’re still aware of your surroundings while jamming to some tunes.

The noise cancellation also works with voice calls. Plus, Xiaomi has added a special AI-powered algorithm to assist the two noise-canceling microphones in picking up your voice.

For better audio, Xiaomi has used a long precision-wound coil and a large 12.4mm driver with a titanium-coated diaphragm that should provide better clarity and bass.

It then has the latest Bluetooth 5.3 that offers seamless connectivity and battery efficiency. Speaking of battery, Xiaomi claims that each bud can last for up to 10 hours of continuous playback with ANC off and a total of 40 hours with the USB-C charging case.
