After nearly four years, Sennheiser is finally replacing its popular Momentum 4 headphones. The new Sennheiser Momentum 5 wireless model looks a lot like the old one on the outside. But most of the big changes are hidden inside. The company says the sound quality and the noise cancellation are much better this time. The catch? The price has gone up.
The battery life is a little shorter than before. The old Sennheiser Momentum 4 could run for 60 hours with noise cancellation turned on, but the new one can only last for about 57 hours. That is still a long time, but it is a small step down. On the plus side, a five minute charge gives you three hours of listening time. And you can replace the battery yourself if you have a small Phillips screwdriver.

So, what is better this time? The noise cancellation has gotten a big upgrade. Sennheiser added two extra microphones to each ear cup, so now there are four on each side. The company says this makes the headphones three times better at blocking out things like people talking around you. The extra mics also help your voice sound more natural during phone calls.

For sound, the headphones still use the same 42mm drivers as the Momentum 4. But now, they come with Hi-Res Audio certification and support for Snapdragon Sound. That means they can handle aptX Lossless Bluetooth audio. You also get an eight-band equalizer inside the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app, along with some preset sound modes.

Another highlight is support for Dolby Atmos with head tracking. The headphones also ship with Bluetooth 5.4, but they were built to work with the upcoming Bluetooth 6.0. That feature will also arrive later through a firmware update.
Sennheiser Momentum 5 headphones will be released to the market on June 16 for $400 (~Php24,000). Pricing and availability in the Philippines are still unknown.
