Sony’s Walkman brand lives on to cater to those who really value music listening. Made for enthusiasts, we saw a couple of these devices with expensive price tags. But now, the company has released something for those who are on a budget, the MW-A306 Walkman.
Other than the price, the Sony MW-A306 Walkman is also considerably lighter and more compact than its more expensive brothers like the Signature Series as it’s only 98 x 56.5 x 11.8mm and weighs 113g.
Since it’s made for music listening, it only has a small 3.6-inch display. It is also capped at a 1280 x 720 HD resolution, but considering how small the screen is compared to smartphones, images should still look sharp.
One of its biggest features is the battery, which the company claims can last for up to 32 hours. The device also has WiFi connectivity and runs on the Android operating system so you can listen to your music from popular streaming apps like Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, and more.
Now, for audio. This one has Sony’s S-Master HD digital amp technology that allows it to have Hi-Res audio to enable HD playback at 24-bit/96kHz and beyond.
It also has Hi-Res wireless with LDAC for Bluetooth audio devices and DSD playback that can play formats of up to 11.2MHz with PCM conversion. 360-degree spatial audio is also here, DSEE Ultimate, Vinyl processor, MQA technology, and Qualcomm aptX HD.
The Sony NW-A306 Walkman will be initially available in Japan for a price of JPY46,000 (~Php19,700) and JPY57,000 (~Php24,500) for the 32GB and 64GB models, respectively. Release details in other markets are yet to be revealed.
