Sweden-based music streaming platform Spotify has recently announced they are adding more audiobooks narrated by digital voices created by ElevenLabs, an AI software company specializing in developing high-quality voice narration technology using deep learning.
According to Spotify, audiobooks narrated by humans and by digital software could be differentiated by the first sentence of the narration stating, “This audiobook is narrated by a digital voice.”
This move towards accepting digitally narrated audiobooks started with its partnership with Google Play Books in 2023, a strategic move at the time that helped authors and listeners access more audiobooks through Spotify.

“We’re excited to begin accepting audiobooks from ElevenLabs, an AI software company that provides easy-to-use, high-quality voice narration technology,” Spotify said.
To submit audiobooks made with ElevenLabs on Spotify, authors can download the file package from ElevenLabs and then upload it to Spotify’s Findaway Voices. After a standard review, the audiobook will eventually go live on the streaming platform, as well as other retailers accepting narrations from Findaway Voices.
Spotify reassured authors and publishers that they will continue to find ways to distribute their audiobook content to Spotify.
