What is Spotify Premium Student?
As the name suggests, the Spotify Premium Student is a discounted subscription plan for eligible college or university students. As of 2024, the Spotify’s student rate in the Philippines for a single verified account is Php75.00 for the first two months of subscription and Php75.00 per month thereafter, with an option to cancel at any time.
How to get the discounted Spotify Premium student rate
Create your Spotify account and log in. Visit www.spotify.com/ph-en/student and click Get Premium. Spotify uses SheerID, the same digital verification system that’s used by YouTube for its discounted YouTube Premium subscription.
Go through the student verification process. Start by filling out an identification form that asks which school you’re currently enrolled in. You must be currently enrolled at the school you specified; otherwise you won’t be able to redeem the student discount. If you cannot find your school in the list, you may not be eligible for the student discount for the time being.
You will also need to enter your email address (preferably one issued by the school or academic institution) and personal information. Make sure you enter your name, birthday, and other info as they appear on your school records. Next, you’ll be redirected to your school portal to verify your login information.
Alternatively, you can manually upload a scanned copy of your proof of enrollment. This proof can be your school ID card that has an expiration date, your class schedule slip, your tuition receipt, or your school transcript of records. The school-issued document must show your name, school, and date of enrollment for the current term or within the last 3 months. You are allowed to upload up to three of these documents for SheerID’s approval. If you exceed this limit, you’ll have to contact their customer support in order to continue.
Once approved, you can then proceed and submit your payment information. To keep using Spotify Premium Student, you will be required to reverify your student status every 12 months. You can keep enjoying the discounted subscription for a maximum of four years.
Students who are currently subscribed to a different plan can switch to the cheaper Premium Student plan. To do so, simply go to your Spotify account overview page, find your plan, click the Change Plan button, and find and select Premium Student. You’ll go through the same student verification process described above.
Keep an eye out for even cheaper promos
Spotify occasionally holds promos that offer a Premium subscription at a discounted rate. For instance, there’s an ongoing promo for the Individual Premium plan that only costs Php149 for a four-month subscription period, which is the same monthly rate as the current Premium Student subscription.
