The Philippines will see its very first e-motorcycle manufacturing after Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI) owned by the Ayalas and Zero Motorcycles, a US-based company, signed a partnership last Tuesday.
According to the Marcos Jr. administration, the signing of the memorandum of agreement between the two companies will help the Philippines’ push bring to have local EV production.
The signing of the partnership agreement is part of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s visit to the United States.

This cooperation agreement will have Zero Motorcycles handling the setup for the manufacturing site while IMI is tasked to assemble Zero’s electric motorcycles, along with other models, in its Laguna site “in conjunction with the manufacturing facilities for Zero in California.”
The partnership is expected to generate 200 jobs in the Philippines and is expected to manufacture and ship 18,000 e-motorcycles per annum.
It looks like they’re not wasting any time as production is expected to start as early as the second quarter of the year.
