BYD has unveiled the Yuan Up, an upcoming affordable SUV electric vehicle (EV), which is slated for the mainstream market.

The new BYD Yuan Up is built on the Chinese EV maker’s e-Platform 3.0, making it the first A0-class SUV on this platform boasting a wheelbase between 2.2 and 2.5 meters. Its large dimensions are expected to appeal to those who want an affordable but large vehicle as it is 4,310mm in length, 1,830mm in width, and 1,675mm in height.

The new model is expected to be a big seller for BYD, much like its bigger brothers: the Yuan Plus and Yuan Pro, which collectively sold 41,681 units just in December of 2023, a 41.44% increase over the same period last year. For the whole of 2023, the series amounted to 14% of BYD’s new EV sales with 428,580 units.
