Electric bikes have easily become one of the most popular modes of short-distance transportation in the Philippines today. They are relatively cheap, don’t need gas, and more importantly, are easy to operate.

But there’s one big reason why people go with e-bikes: they think they are easier to acquire as they don’t need any government registration — well, that’s not really the case.

Earlier this June 2022, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) reminded Filipinos that owning select e-bikes and e-scooters requires an LTO registration.
