Geely finally enters the sedan market in the Philippines with the launch of the Emgrand 2022.

Coming from the success of the Coolray and Okavango, the Geely Emgrand 2022 wants to take on a couple of hard-hitters in the country, the Toyota Vios and Honda City. Like its cousins, the Chinese car brand wants to up this price segment by coming up with an “upscale and stylish” sedan.

The Emgrand features what Geely calls Energy Pulse grilles on the front, distinct taillights, and stylish curves on the sides and the hood.

Geely also rigged the Emgrand with LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, and an elegant interior with futuristic-looking seat design, sunroof, generous legroom, and intelligent interactive air conditioning.

The stars of the cockpit include an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, which sadly lacks Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and electronic parking brake with auto-hold.

Other notable features include hill start assist, 6 SRS airbags, an anti-lock braking system, electronic brake-force distribution, and CN95 cabin filters.

Under the hood, the Emgrand 2022 runs on a 1.5L inline-4 gasoline engine with continuously variable transmission (CVT). It produces 102 horses with 142Nm of torque.

Will it fit your garage? The 2022 Emgrand is 1822mm wide and 4638mm long with a ground clearance of 122mm.

The Geely Emgrand 1.5 CVT Comfort variant has a price of Php798,000 while the Premium model is at Php908,000. A cheaper “S” variant will be launched at a later date.
