We used to say that electric vehicles are the future, and it feels like that feature is now. We’ve seen a lot of prominent vehicle lines getting the EV treatments, including these bikes from Kawasaki: the Ninja e-1 and Z e-1.

A first for their respective series, the electric-powered Kawasaki Ninja e-1 and Z e-1 retain their classic, aggressive, and attractive designs, with robust steel trellis frame designs and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The duo will be powered by a 5 kW electric motor that can have a peak output of 9 kW. They will also come with regenerative braking technology so there’s no need for a clutch operation.

If you have range anxiety, the duo has 30Ah removable battery packs so you can easily swap one out if it runs out of juice. The battery packs can then be charged at home, at a docking station, or while still inside the bike.

As for the lights and instrument cluster, there’s a dedicated 12-volt battery, which is similar to what combustion-engine bikes use.

Kawasaki claims that the new Ninja and Z e-1 bakes have a range of about 66 kilometers on a single charge in Road mode. There’s an Eco mode if you want to save battery or stuck in traffic. Kawasaki also included a special e-Boost for extra acceleration power and higher top speeds.

Oh, and there’s also a Walk Mode for easy parking. Each mode regulates the speed to match its respective purpose.

The duo will also have ABS, 41mm telescopic front form, bottom-link Uni-Trak rear with four-way adjustable preload, ABS, and single two-piston caliper brakes in front and rear with different disc sizes for the two.

Since it’s electric, you can pair the bikes with the Kawasaki Rideology app that connects to your mobile device via Bluetooth.

Oh, and since it doesn’t run on gas, the place where the fuel tank usually sits is now a small trunk to give you more storage.

The Kawasaki Ninja e-1 will have a price of USD7,299 (~Php413,300) while the Kawasaki Z e-1 will retail for USD7,599 (~Php430,300) in select markets. They will only come in one color each.
