The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) sold a collective total of 932,220 motorcycle units for its members from January to July 2023.

The motorcycle association, whose members include Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha, said via press release it experienced a 4.7 percent increase versus the same period in the previous year when they sold 890,720 units.

Considering this milestone, all MDPPA members agreed that their aim during the next half of this year, from August to December, is a modest but steady 5-percent gain. That means reaching a cumulative sales figure of 1.6 million units by the end of the year and surpassing last year’s 1.5 million units.

However, the MDPPA acknowledges that their end-of-year goal may be affected by the lingering effects of the pandemic as well as by recent local and global economic trends, including rising prices, supply chain disruptions, and the shift towards work-from-home setups.

MDPPA President Norminio “Boying” Mojica pointed out that past sales patterns consistently show increased sales figures in September, October, and November, whereas August and December typically experience average sales.

Back in March 2023, the MDPPA gave a 10-percent growth forecast or a total collective sale of 1.72 million units. It saw a monthly average of 149,000 units during the first quarter of 2023.
