CHERRY Philippines’ corporate social responsibility arm CHERRY Cares, on November 13, 2023, donated 300 Flare Tab and Omega Tab Pro tablets to the office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Quezon City. The charity comes as a support to the government agency’s campaign against illegal drugs, the Buhay Ingatan, Droga’y Ayawan (BIDA) Program.
A nationwide drive, the BIDA Program is an improved and complete anti-drug campaign of DILG whose purpose is to foster rehabilitation and boost socioeconomic growth. The effort seeks to lower the demand for drugs while spreading awareness among all aspects of the community.
The primary beneficiaries of the tablets are the local government units found to have outstanding performance as participants in the campaign against illegal substances.
Assistant for Communications and External Affairs, ASec. Rolando C. Puno, refers to said recipients as “Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) awardees” who played a great contributing role in the program. Alternatively, he calls them “heroes committed to implementing the BIDA program,” with the ultimate goal of a “drug-free Philippines.”
The tablets were presented by CHERRY Cares representatives CHERRY Program Officer Ginesty Gilboy; PR and CSR Associate Rica Mae Herrero; CSR Program Officer Ruzzelle Camposano; and PR and Content Writer Marra Lanot.
In acceptance of the donated tablets, Assistant Director of Bureau of Local Government Supervision Salvacion Z. Baccay; Director of Bureau of Local Government Supervision Debie T. Torres; Head Executive Assistant Kevin R. Carpeso; and Assistant for Communications and External Affairs Rolando C. Puno were present in the turnover.
