Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was recently released to the public. While the latest installment to the acclaimed shooting franchise was critically panned. Largely, for its rushed development that culminated in a DLC-like release rather than a full-on COD title. Nevertheless, the game has a community of fans who are playing the game across different platforms.

That notion inevitably has got many wondering whether or not Modern Warfare 3 supports cross-play and cross-progression, considering that it was released to multiple platforms. Each release of which offering a similar overall high-octane and explosive shooting experience, except for a few platform-exclusive tidbits.

COD Modern Warfare cross-progression and crossplay

Without going around the bush, the answers are pretty straightforward—yes, on both.

Like some of the previous COD installments, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will feature support for both cross-play and cross-progression. This means that players of the game will be able to play with or against one another, regardless of the platform they are running the game from.

Cross-progression support, meanwhile, implies that players who own multiple copies of the same game across various platforms can continue the progression of their game, regardless of which platform they choose to play from. The only requirement for cross-progression is that the player must be using the same Activision account on all platforms.

In addition to the player’s progression from the single-player campaign, progress made in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone will count as part of the player’s overall player progression as well as Battle Pass progression. To the uninitiated, this means that whenever a player makes a significant advancement while playing either Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone, such progress will add to the player’s overall progression.

Activision is hard at work in developing the first season content of Modern Warfare 3. However, players would do their best to get a headstart by actively playing Multiplayer and Zombies for player XP and unlocking content. They may even work their way up to 55 Military Ranks for new customizable Loadouts and new items.
