A new plant in Batangas is subject to massive funding as global tech company Dyson allots £166 million (around Php11 billion) to its development and subsequent use, according to the company’s announcement.
With a size that is tantamount to 92 basketball courts, Dyson said that the new First Philippine Industrial Park-based facility will serve as its place for research and development as well as the manufacturing of advanced motors, all within the same roof.
In the company statement, it states the Philippines’ pivotal role in Dyson’s global aspirations, claiming the investment to be one of its largest, will build one of its most advanced technology manufacturing centers.
Dyson said that it is looking to add 400 engineers as well as 50 student engineers to its overall manpower as R&D teams, with the attention centered on AI, software, fluid dynamics, robotics, and hardware electronics.
Still a work in progress, the plant is expected to become operational by early 2024.
As for the structure of the campus itself, the company described it as conducive to natural light, greenery, and air, which it claims would be critical in the company’s teamwork efforts and innovations.
In addition, the premise will also inhabit other significant areas, such as those aimed at leisure and sports, as well as offices and laboratories.
