Popular travel and booking platforms Airbnb and Agoda are seeing another competition in their own space as locally-grown booking app Happy Hotels officially launched in the Philippines.
The application is set to give the two world-renowned brands a run for their money with its expertise in local events and bespoke services to travelers of varying budgets.
Highlighting the convenience of its use, Happy Hotels promises users, both local and foreign, easy access to bed and breakfast establishments, dormitels, and hotels, according to the company.

Drawing from 25 years of industry experience, Happy Hotels Founder and CEO Jason Lao set the company apart from its peers through a comprehensive knowledge of the ecosystem, which includes entrepreneurs and travelers.
Aimed at gathering the attention of the traveling crowd, the app features the “Calendar of Events”—laying out all the up-and-coming occasions and festivities across the country in detail to keep interested travelers up to speed for their next destination.
Tired and weary sightseers will also find a boon in using Happy Hotels for its “Near Me” feature, which gives relevant information on the closest establishments in the area.
Lao is optimistic about the app’s ability to go toe-to-toe with the competition and to surpass them because of the homecourt advantage and by being a Filipino.
