However, there are other devices in the market that caters to the same people. One of them is coming from the Xiaomi camp, the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Just like the former, this one has a lot of specs and features that should make for a great daily driver, plus more.

Design
Design preferences differ from every people. But by looking at the two, it’s safe to say that the Redmi Note 9 Pro has a more imaginative design than the other. It’s available in Glacier White, Aurora Blue, and Interstellar Black.

The OPPO A92’s look feels a bit boring and less imaginative, but the clean Shining White option, which we have a full review of, is definitely nice to look at. You can also get the contrasting Twilight Black option for a stealthy look.
Both devices have punch-hole on their screens for their selfie cameras. We prefer to have it on the corner, like what OPPO did on the A92, as it’s less distracting than having it on the middle, like what Xiaomi did.

However, the Redmi Note 9 Pro wins in technicality as it has a sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on front and back. It’s also P2i splash-proof, but don’t go swimming with it.
On the other hand, the OPPO A92 has an unmentioned glass on the front and a glass-like plastic on the back.
Processor
Here’s an easy win for the Redmi Note 9 Pro. Xiaomi used the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G octa-core processor on its latest mid-range phone. Obviously, it offers faster and more reliable performance than the Snapdragon 665 of the latter. It also has support for the newer Bluetooth 5.1 standard.

To OPPO’s credit, the A92 does have a roomy 8GB of RAM, while the Redmi device only has 6GB. Albeit, we doubt it would make any difference since the overall performance still relies on the processor.
Cameras
Both devices come with 16-megapixel selfie cameras, 8-megapixel ultra-wide, and 2-megapixel. But still, this is an easy win for the Redmi Note 9 Pro, thanks to its 64-megapixel main camera that’s sharper than the 48-megapixel main shooter of the competition.

Also, you’d find more use of its 5-megapixel macro camera than the 2-megapixel monochrome of the latter. It also has 120fps slow-mo selfie and 960fps ultra slow-mo video recording — features that are missing on the OPPO A92.

Battery
More trophies for the Redmi Note 9 Pro. As you can see, it has 5,020mAh battery, which is marginally bigger than the A92’s 5,000mAh.

The Note 9 Pro also has a 30W fast charging support, almost two times faster than the 18W of the competition.
Others
Both the OPPO A92 have side-mounted fingerprint scanners, resulting for a cleaner back and streamlined design. They also run on the latest Android 10 operating system with their respective interfaces.

The OPPO A92 has a stereo speaker setup, which makes games and movies more immersive, and possibly its only win on this comparison.
It’s worth noting that the Redmi Note 9 Pro has an IR blaster, which lets you use the device as a remote control for your non-smart appliances like air conditioners, basic TVs, and more. It also has NFC for those who actually use it.
Verdict
I guess we have a clear winner here. The Redmi Note 9 Pro’s more powerful processor, better camera features, sturdy glass construction, and faster charging made it win this specs comparison.

What’s more interesting is, Redmi’s offering is actually more affordable. It starts at only Php12,490 for the 6GB/64GB model. Even it’s a high-end variant, the 6GB/128GB model, is still more affordable than the OPPO A92’s price tag of Php15,990, as it is available in the Philippines for only Php13,990.
